It's Official!

Our campaign has launched!

For many it might have been a distinction without a difference, but for the past few months our campaign was operating in "Exploratory" mode, a technical term that meant we were testing the waters to determine the viability of a candidacy by measuring name recognition and a few other factors. As you might imagine, by not being a politician or a public figure, the question of name recognition was answered before we even began. I was introducing myself to almost everyone for the first time. What did resonate, however, and powerfully so, was the message. Each and every person we spoke with since we started this journey was in agreement with the importance of what we hope to accomplish: putting representatives in Congress who are able to figure out solutions to the new wave of challenges that will be impacting society. They saw the importance of that message and believed strongly that we had the right messenger. They want our country prepared and with competent representatives to do it.

We intend to build a progressive, forward-looking movement outside the establishment that will not perpetuate politics as usual. We recognize what's ahead and understand that legislators in Washington need the awareness and knowledge to protect the rights, privacy, and equitable access of all Americans.

The feedback was heard loud and clear, and I am now officially a candidate for Pennsylvania's 3rd Congressional District! A broader announcement in the media, along with a campaign kickoff event, will be coming soon, but I wanted to make sure that "The List" was the first to know!

With this step, some things will change, while others will stay the same.

What will remain is continued engagement in the community. We'll be speaking with neighbors, civic groups, nonprofits, and other stakeholders all across the district about their concerns and what we see as the government's role in helping to address them. That is what it means to represent your constituents, after all — being on the ground and accessible. Our goal for the next 10 months is to inform the community of what's at stake.

What will change is expanding our modes of engagement. We're now in a phase where maximizing our reach is paramount. We realize that the power is in the message, and for our campaign to be successful, we need everyone in the district to hear it. Our ask of sharing this message with friends, family, and like-minded individuals remains the same, but we also hope you'll be able to chip-in to help with some of the unavoidable realities of running a viable campaign. We are committed to rejecting all corporate PAC and dark money sources and will instead rely on small-dollar donors to help execute our strategies to bring the campaign to the finish line. We want a campaign that is supported by the constituents we hope to represent, and those who believe in the need for change.

Thank you for coming on board with us! The race is on!
