ChatGPT Creator Thinks You Don't Do Real WorkOctober 27, 2025
When asked about AI's potential to eliminate certain categories of work, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI (the company behind ChatGPT), said that if AI can do your job, it probably isn't "real work" to begin with. This comes after Peter Thiel, friend of Elon Musk and the founder of Palantir, hesitated when asked whether he would prefer the human race to endure over AI. In case you're wondering, Palantir is the company behind many of the AI tools in use by the US military and ICE, and has billions in contracts with the federal government. One thing is becoming crystal clear: big tech only cares about their technologies—not the human cost. Everyone and everything is collateral damage to their profit-making enterprise. We cannot allow these technology companies to make their own rules as they have for the past 30 years. There has to be government oversight, or we will all be in a very dark place! It Was a Busy WeekThis past week I spoke about AI and the need for regulation at We The People Wednesdays. I want to thank the organizers of the event as well as everyone who made it out in the chilly weather. I really enjoyed the many conversations after the event.
I was also in Roxborough on Friday night to be a judge for Kelly Park's Trunk or Treat event. It was a great change of pace from being on the campaign trail, and I'd like to thank all the organizers for the opportunity and for planning an amazing event. On Saturday I was in attendance at the Education Equity Summit, where we discussed the challenges to supporting equitable access and high education standards in our public schools. The Government Shutdown Will Leave Philadelphians HungryCome November 1st, if the federal government shutdown (now in its 26th day) remains in effect, many Philadelphians that depend on SNAP will not receive their benefits. I understand why Democrats are holding the line — the financial impact from the removal of Obamacare subsidies would devastate millions currently enrolled in the Affordable Care Act, but in the meantime we are heading towards another crisis. I know many Philadelphians want to be a part of the solution and help our neighbors in their time of need, and next month many families will be reliant on food banks to get by over the coming weeks. These facilities will need our help to make sure they can keep up with increased demand. Life can be hectic, and that makes it difficult to get involved, so my campaign would like to help. If you have supplies you'd like to donate but cannot find the time to deliver them, reach out to volunteer@karlforcongress.us, and one of our volunteers will coordinate with you to shuttle your donation to a food pantry or community fridge in your area, or to another location in the city with need. |
