ICE Must be Abolished!

Since the beginning of 2026, we have witnessed the continued and expanding terrorization of U.S. cities by the federal government, resulting in the deaths of nine people at the hands of ICE and other agencies under DHS. This follows, and  is currently outpacing, 2025, which was ICE's deadliest year on record. This year, things have come to a head as we have all witnessed the execution-style killings of American citizens in our streets. These tragedies have been followed by baffling defenses of the officers' actions and blatant lies by this administration, despite each incident being captured on numerous cameras for the world to see. We should all shudder to think how they lie when the cameras aren't there.

In our democracy, the government derives its powers from the consent of the governed. Similarly, to effectively police a population, an agency must have the consent of the policed. These institutions are granted authority and latitude far beyond that of a regular citizen because their presence is deemed necessary; however, with that power comes a higher standard of responsibility and accountability. Policing requires a foundation of trust.

ICE has shattered that trust. Their actions, and the subsequent cover-ups bolstered by this administration, have rendered that relationship irreparable. Because they can no longer operate effectively in our communities and with our trust, ICE must be abolished.
