Medicare's New AI Gatekeeper

As I wrote about in September, on January 1st, Medicare began its pilot program requiring Americans in six states to get prior authorization from AI for certain procedures, including treatments for Parkinson's disease and skin ailments. This means the bias that exists in healthcare AI systems will now be impacting over 6 million Americans on Medicare, and more as this pilot inevitably expands. To put it simply, the bias in these systems negatively impact the diagnosis and care received by seniors, more so if you're a woman, and even worse if you're a woman (or man) of color! Using these systems in Medicare will be an unmitigated disaster unless Congress steps in to provide oversight, yet they have written ZERO laws regulating AI! Americans deserve better and Congress needs leadership!

Congress lacks the leadership to navigate the complexities of AI and emerging technologies. These are issues I have spent decades mastering and protecting marginalized communities. Because I offer true expertise rather than generic talking points, the Philadelphia Democratic machine and ward system is working to silence this campaign and prop up the establishment. Whether blocking access to candidate forums or refusing meeting requests, the party leadership is trying to ensure our message isn't heard. They know our movement is a threat to their power because we didn't wait in line to be groomed. We owe no favors to the establishment and will only answer to the voters.
